The project task was to create a sea floor characterisation map of the Bunurong Marine Park (south of Wonthaggi) and to compare the results of manual and automatic interpretations. This project utilised the manual method, while the project conducted by Damien Raffle (below) involved automatic methods. Data was supplied by DNRE.

Accurate maps of the bed of the Hopkins River estuary were required by staff at the Aquatic Science Dept, Deakin University, Warrnambool. A contour map was the result of this study, along with 3-D visual representations of the bed morphology.

The project focussed on analysis of side scan sonar imagery of the Eliza Ramsden shipwreck in Porth Phillip Bay. Along with this site, the data also identified some other sites of interest, and highlighted the possible effect of the shipping channel on such sites.

This project, as with that of Simon Bray (above), involved characterising the sea floor of the Bunurong Marine Park. The imagery used was from Landsat TM, and this component of the project involved the use of automatic classification techniques. Data was supplied by DNRE.
