Matt DuckhamBSc (Hon, Edinburgh); MSc (Leicester); PhD (Glasgow) LecturerTeachingLocation-based services; Scripting and programming in GIS; Case studies in GIS ResearchUncertainty in geospatial information; mobile and location-aware systems; spatial information fusion; qualitative spatial reasoning BiographyBefore joining the Department of Geomatics as a lecturer in 2004, Matt was as a postdoctoral researcher, first at the Department of Computer Science, University of Keele, UK (1999-2002), and then at the National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis (NCGIA), in the Department of Spatial Information Science and Engineering, University of Maine, USA (2002-2004). His PhD, from the University of Glasgow, is in the area of spatial data quality. With Professor Mike Worboys, Matt is coauthor of a major GIS textbook, GIS: A Computing Perspective 2e, and editor of a recent book entitled Foundations of Geographic Information Science. Email:
