DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITIES OF COMMISSION 7

Cadastre and land management are the responsibility of Commission 7 in
the International Federation of Surveyors. The Commission considers the
needs of both the developed and developing world. The activities of the
Commission are equally applicable to systems based on Codified Law, Common
Law and Customary Law, and to both market driven and planned economies.
MISSION
- To promote international goodwill, cooperation and understanding in
issues of cadastre and land management
TERMS OF REFERENCE

- Land Management and administration.
- Cadastral reform, multi-purpose cadastres, parcel-based land information systems and computerisation of cadastral records.
- Cadastral surveying and mapping.
- Land titling, land tenure, land law and land registration.
- Urban and rural land consolidation with emphasis on environmental and economic issues.
- National and international boundaries.
- Land and marine management.

BUSINESS OPERATIONS
- For management purposes, it was agreed by Commission 7 that the Chairman should be able to discuss with Dr Paul Munro-Faure (UK), Mr Jurg Kaufmann (Switzerland) and Mr Tommy Osterberg (Sweden), any issues affecting the Commission which require a quick decision to be made in cases where the necessary time to correspond with all Commission delegates is not available.
