CGISM: About usThe Centre is a joint initiative of the Faculty of Engineering (Department of Geomatics) and the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne. The Centre has been established to carry out research on geographic information systems, their applications, environmental visualisation and modelling, and to provide a focus for University teaching in these areas. The Centre offers a Graduate Certificate (1 semester) and Graduate Diploma (2 semesters)in GIS and a Master of Applied Science(GIS) degree (3 semesters - by coursework or by research). These programs are designed to give professionals working in many fields, in Government or in Private enterprise, a working knowledge of the theory and range of applications of geographic information systems.
